I would be glad to help you with your legal issues! I believe that an attorney is also an legal advisor and consultant. I serve the business and consumer transaction needs of growing public and private companies in many areas of business and consumer issues, including those in the construction and remodeling industry. I help clients turn legal challenges into opportunities. I am dedicated to providing legal services on the basis of a complete understanding of each client's objectives and operations in order to provide efficient, experienced and personalized professional service. Proper advance counsel can help avoid legal and business risks. It's not just "is this legal?" The real question is often "here is what I want to do, how do I do it within the requirements of law and good business." Emphasis is on counseling and pursuit of preventive measures to establish good business practices, avoid disruptive and costly disputes and to resolve disputes which do arise in a practical business format.
Contractors:
Large or small, I help a lot of contractors with construction problems, contracts and other forms, licensing and other matters. I recognize that many small businesses are reluctant to hire an attorney because they perceive "they can't afford one" or that they have not had a problem. When you have a problem is NOT the time to find out your contract forms are inadequate or that you have a serious licensing issues. I can discuss a budget with various options to handle many types of legal issues.
Consumers:
I also represent CONSUMERS in actions against unlicensed contractors performing work for which a state contractors license is required. Good contractors worked hard to obtain their state general and residential contractor's license. Other contractors who do not hold a state contractor's license limit their services and stay within the exemptions from state contractor's license law. Unfortunately, there are a bad actors who claim to be state licensed who are performing work that require a state license. These bad actors endanger Georgia's consumers and give a bad name to many good contractors.
All too often a homeowner/consumer will not contact an attorney because of their perception that it will "cost too much."
Before you enter into a contract for construction, I urge you to consider talking with a knowledgeable construction attorney. For the small price of an hour or two consultation, you may save yourself thousands of dollars and long hours trying to fix a problem created by a bad contractor, poor legal rights and remedies or not knowing the law. Your home is generally your most valuable possession. Don't let someone destroy it because you thought you were saving a few dollars or because you did not understand the risks.
